Curatorial

Tar Isteach was the Bealtaine Festival / Age and Opportunity Commission for Bealtaine 2020, in partnership with Galway City, Clare and Roscommon County Councils.
In 2019 three members of Ground Up Artists Collective Monica de Bath, Maeve Collins & Julie Griffiths began
research work within IMMA as part of a Bealtaine Age and Opportunity Commission on the theme of
hospitality. They were asked to work with diverse communities on issues of identity and culture.

The project was bookended by two roundtables which provided the opportunity for dialogue around socially engaged art practice and direct provision in Ireland.

At the Table, involved partner Helium Arts and artist Ciara Harrison in a collaborative intergenerational exchange where families shared memories and worked on embellishing fragments of table cloths, the artist inherited from her aunt.
