Hospitality

In May – June 2014 I worked with Open Circle Womens’ Community Arts Collective exploring the theme of Hospitality. For four consecutive weeks individual members of the group brought house hold objects, food and or beverages to share that they associated with their own experiences of hospitality. In particular the serving of Saudi coffee and fried dates, (see images) by Phyllis took on a performative element which I would have liked to drawn on further. The quotes accompanying the following images are taken from our recorded discussions around hospitality.
